(b) MAA (Message Access Agent) are associated with email systems. What is the function of MAA? Give an example of a common MAA protocol.

(c) The Internet today consists of IPv4 and IPv6 compliant networks. A host with the address needs to send a packet through an IPv6 compliant network. What is this address in IPv6 address notation?

Contrast Intradomain and Interdomain routing. How are they different? Give specific examples of routing protocols for each type.

Question 7

The Figure Q-7 contains a graph representing networks showing only the connection of five routers A, B, C, D and E. The figure also shows the initial values in their respective distance vector routing tables before the updates are made.

(a) Compare and contrast 3 (three) key features in UDP and TCP. Give brief but clear description in your answer. Your answer for this part of the question should not be a discussion on the details of fields or bits in the header.

(b) The TCP transmission has three phases. One of this is the Connection establishment.

(i) Briefly list the four actions in the three-way handshake for this phase of Connection establishment between a client and a server.

(ii) Use a suitable diagram to show the sequencing of the TCP segments passing between the client and server and any relevant states for this phase of Connection establishment. Clearly indicate the sequence numbers, related flags used and give suitable labels in your diagram.
